This one is definitely dank. Not super fruity. Pleasant, but a bit different.

A damn fine beer. Boozy AF, rich, plenty of coffee and chocolate. I'd prefer it just a hair less sweet, but who's complaining?!
Drank 12 oz of Rise Up Coffee Stout by Evolution Craft Brewing CompanyMay 26th, 2024

Enjoyed this more than I expected. I found it quite well balanced with plenty of nice coffee character.

Last of these, but still enjoyed it. Surprised that I like a West Coast this much.
2024-04-23
A relatively uncommon West Coast IPA from Other Half - a brewery much better known for their hazies. I found this to be pretty sweet for a WC, with some nice fruitiness balanced with a bit of bitterness and pine. I'm not typically a WC fan, but liked it.
Drank 500 ml of Bourbon County Brand Wheatwine (2019) by Goose Island Beer Co. (2019)May 23rd, 2024

Very solid, even at this age. Loads of butterscotch and plenty of bourbon goodness. Quite reminiscent of a barleywine. Would try it again.

Very nice, especially for a style that I didn't drink often. Thoroughly enjoyed with Deanne, over charcuterie, on the deck. Would absolutely buy again.
Drank 650 ml of The Abyss 2017 Reserve by Deschutes Brewery (2017)May 2nd, 2024

Very, very bitter. Definitely not what it was supposed to be. Sorry I didn't really get to try it.
Drank 650 ml of Hellshire XII by Oakshire Brewing (2022)May 2nd, 2024

Boozy AF. Just what I like. Tons of chocolate and dried dark fruit. Great beer!
Drank 12 oz of Dystopian Morning Light by Fort George Brewery (2023)May 1st, 2024

Still not amazing. I don't think I'd buy this one again.

A bit disappointed, honestly. It's just a bit too sweet. It's like it can't figure out if it wants to be a straight-up BA stout or a pastry stout - and the pastry side won. The barrel character is nice and there's loads of chocolate, but too sweet overall. 3.75/5
Drank 500 ml of Double Sunset - Brandywine by Other Half Brewing Co. (2021)April 26th, 2024

Surprisingly carbonated for the style and age. May be a bit past its prime, but still awfully good.
Drank 500 ml of Bourbon County Brand Café de Olla Stout (2019) by Goose Island Beer Co. (2019)April 25th, 2024

This thing is delicious. So much dark chocolate bitterness perfectly balanced with just enough sweetness. What a great beer. Probably lost some of the orange flavor in aging, but holy hell it's delicious even nearly 5 years later.
