Drank 750 ml of Reuze by The Bruery (2012-09-06) | January 6th, 2014 |
2017-04-30 Amazing pucker, this beer held up wonderfully. Super refreshing.
2014-01-06 Very tart, almost flat, not bad but no funk. May have liked this one better fresh.
Drank 650 ml of Firestone 15 - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2011) | January 2nd, 2014 |
2017-08-19 Tasting, somewhat surprisingly, a lot more oxidized than the 14. Expressed as more bitterness, less of a smooth blend. Not bad but hasn't held up extremely well.
2014-01-02 Delicious. Definitely more of a barleywine than some of the other anniversary blends, but has come along really nicely, with a great balance of malt and smooth roasty notes. Dig it.
2012-12-28 First tasting (December 2011) was silky and sweet with lots of vanilla and booziness.
Drank 650 ml of §ucaba by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2012) | December 27th, 2013 |
2013-12-27 Looots of malt, great roast in the finish, such a well done barleywine. The smoothness of theirs is unbeatable.
2013-03-18 Big, malty, and delicious. Tons of caramel, some toffee, super smooth, almost no booziness. Glad I have two more to sit on!
Drank 750 ml of Melange No. 1 by The Bruery (2013-09-28) | December 27th, 2013 |
2017-04-30 This beer is great; the blend works so well, with a nice tartness up front that mellows perfectly into the stout for the finish.
2013-12-27 Great mix of sour, stout, and brings down the alcohol to a drinkable level. Wish I had more, actually super accessible.
Drank 650 ml of Parabola by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2012) | December 27th, 2013 |
2017-08-19 Got a brief taste of this one, same Parabola goodness with perhaps the teeniest bit of oxidation. These beers age like champs.
2013-12-27 Smooth, great roast, coffee and caramel and molasses on the palate, as good as it was fresh as far as I remember.
Drank 750 ml of Juliet by Goose Island Beer Co. (2013-08-02) | December 24th, 2013 |
2013-12-24 A lot of acidity, a little fruit, lots of lacto in the nose. Pretty good but not great, although definitely fairly complex.
Drank 650 ml of Firestone 14 - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2010) | December 24th, 2013 |
2017-08-19 Was the favorite anniversary beer of the night. Great roasted character, an extremely mild amount of oxidation for the age, and lots of chocolate. Awesome beer.
2015-03-09 Delicious, has held up so well, a surprising amount of heat in there even! Chocolate, malt, toffee, no anise (thankfully), love it. Glad to had another as this beer is still kicking strong.
2013-12-24 Great roastiness all throughout, not much in the nose but awesome taste profile, has held up amazingly. Absolute delight.
Drank 750 ml of Bois - Rye by The Bruery (2013-04-16) | December 22nd, 2013 |
2013-12-22 Much like the other variants, but works well with the rye (which is there but very mild). Delicious, quite drinkable.
Drank 22 oz of Ichabod Ale by Alpine Beer Company (2013) | December 21st, 2013 |
2013-12-21 Not bad but a little weird, some hints of pumpkin, lots of maltiness, a little funk in there as well. Good, not great.
Drank 750 ml of Lava by Ölvisholt Brugghús (2013) | December 21st, 2013 |
2013-12-21 Pretty cool stout, a little harsh in the nose but some nice maltiness up front followed by some really nice smokiness that lingers.
Drank 12 oz of Bourbon County Brand Barleywine by Goose Island Beer Co. (2013-09-24) | December 19th, 2013 |
2024-08-17 Really delicious! Surprisingly low oxidation and still a lovely mellow sweetness, really hides its ABV.
2015-01-25 The cotton candy is subdued, but this is still tasting great, especially as it warms up a bit.
2013-12-19 Amazing; calling it a barley wine seems almost cheating, it's super thick, awesome marshmallow sweetness coupled with a roastiness in the finish. This is great.
Drank 22 oz of Old Guardian Barley Wine Style Ale by Stone Brewing (2013) | December 16th, 2013 |
2013-12-16 Lots of malt, bread character, kind of a mediocre barleywine on second take.
2013-03-23 Good carbonation, dull smokiness in the nose, mild sweetness, well balanced. A good barley wine, no syrup to be found.
Drank 750 ml of Cantillon Saint Lamvinus by Brasserie Cantillon (2012-11-21) | December 14th, 2013 |
2020-02-28 Super cheese in an amazing way, less fruit than the fresher (2016) bottle but a little more character to the funk. Delicious.
2013-12-14 That perfect Cantillon funk, along with a surprising amount of fruit presence (not much must) coupled with the traditional sour backend. Awesome, was a great line beer waiting for Beatification.
Drank 12 oz of Adam by Hair of the Dog Brewing Company (2013) | December 13th, 2013 |
2013-12-13 Delicious, love the roast malt flavors that form the core of this beer, would never know it's 10%.
Drank 12 oz of Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2013-11-15) | December 13th, 2013 |
2015-06-26 Still a surprising amount of coffee, and tasting great, thick, not too hot, and that great BCBS stout character. Still digging it.
2015-01-23 Tasting great, though as expected a bit muted on the coffee compared to drinking it fresh.
2014-12-24 Much sweeter than remembered, though not in a bad way, coffee definitely subdued but still present in the nose and on the backend, has some of that BCBW marshmellow I remember too. Tasting great.
2014-02-24 Still great, lots of coffee on the nose and on the palate, and so drinkable for the ABV, hardly any heat. A great blend.
2013-12-13 Sooo much coffee presence, delicious and up front, much better than the 2012 bottle opened a while back. Superb and not grounds-like, just a great blend, should drink another soon. |
