Drank 12 oz of Bourbon County Brand Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2013-11-08)December 21st, 2024
2024-12-21
Wow tasted great. Still some heat after a few sips, no oxidation notes, tons of chocolate and coffee. Can't believe how well this one has held up.
2015-01-02
Tasting good, lots of chocolate and some oak char, feel like this may be better fresh (at least the 2014), but still damn delicious.
2013-12-02
As good as remembered, especially with chocolate cake. Soooo drinkable for 15% ABV, with great coffee, malt, and bourbon notes, with a delightful bit of heat on the lips. So glad this beer has survived InBev.
Drank 750 ml of Sucré - Tawny Port by The Bruery (2014-03-08)December 21st, 2024
2024-12-21
Tastes like Sucre! The port aspects I remember from drinking fresh were nowhere near as prevalent, but the beer has held up amazingly. Great in small pours.
2017-04-30
Still probably my favorite variant; about the only one I'm happy to have another of!
Drank 375 ml of Temptation by Russian River Brewing Company (2012-07-27)December 21st, 2024
2024-12-21
Most disappointing bottle of the night. Not terrible, but flat, and most of the nuance you get fresh was gone. Gonna have to check out RR bottles of similar vintage to see if it's a trend.
Drank 750 ml of Speedway Stout - Vietnamese Coffee by AleSmith Brewing Company (2014)December 21st, 2024
2024-12-21
TONS of oxidation in the nose, but it was far less present on the palate. Coffee was there, tho this beer is definitely better fresh.
2015-01-24
Delicious, with super intense coffee in the nose and on the palate, with some lovely residual sweetness, chocolate, and condensed milk going on.
Drank 750 ml of Grey Monday by The Bruery (2014-03-28)December 21st, 2024
2024-12-21
Was great. Hazelnut faded a tad (which I liked), balance of sweetness was perfect for a Bruery bottle, another crowd favorite.
2014-12-31
Mild hazelnut in the nose and on the palate, lots of Black Tuesday influence, some solid bourbon, and definitely some heat. Tasty, but think this may hit its prime in a year or so.
Drank 750 ml of Map of the Sun by The Rare Barrel (2014-10-08)December 21st, 2024
2024-12-21
Wasn't too tart and definitely still a solid amount of fruit there. Great bite and flavor, solid sipper.
2015-03-23
Delicious! Super clean, good bit of apricot, perfect tartness, an all around wonderful beer.
2014-12-31
Tasting good but not stellar, recall it being better on draft, I did have a pour towards the end of the bottle so might have been dregs interfering.
Drank 375 ml of Oude Geuze - Golden Blend by 3 Fonteinen (2011-02-17)December 20th, 2024
2024-12-20
Such a quaffable gueuze. Smooth, only ever so mildly funky, lovely sweetness, and hasn't lost a step even with 13 years on it.
2014-11-16
Awesome funky nose, with such a nice sweetness on the palate, super balanced, drinking great.
2013-09-04
Awesome! Great balance of sweetness and funk, such a solid geuze. I actually like it better than Tilquen.
Drank 750 ml of Peche 'n Brett by Logsdon Farmhouse Ales (2013)December 20th, 2024
2024-12-20
Lovely brett beer with (maybe invented?) still some peach flavor sneaking in there. Honestly expected more of a brett bomb but it was great, a crowd favorite.
2014-03-08
Great brett character, still some nice peach, such a nice peach sour even after a year.
2013-09-14
Great beer, big brett presence with mild peach fruitiness. Would have liked a bit more peach, but still an awesome brew, the house Logsdon bugs are very recognizable.
Drank 750 ml of Sour in the Rye with Kumquats by The Bruery (2013-04-25)December 20th, 2024
2024-12-20
Still very punchy, and still with some fruit, but delicious. Some folks claimed it was their favorite of the night.
2016-02-27
Tasting a lot like a Night Shift beer, not at all like last remembered, mellow, a teensy bit of nail polish remover, still some lovely fruitiness, and generally delicious.
2013-09-27
Such an amazing nose and an awesome sour; great mix of tart and fruit. The Bruery at its best.
2013-07-19
Nice addition! Fruits adds to the nose and mellows out the front end, which leads nicely into a puckering finish. Quite good.
Drank 750 ml of 2012 Vintage Oak Aged Ale (Barrel No. 170) by Brouwerij Rodenbach (2012)December 5th, 2024
2024-12-05
Delicious, mellow, almost exactly like I remember it, no pronounced funk, still effervescent. Held up amazingly. Enjoyed with Marshall and Trykie.
Drank 12 oz of Bourbon County Brand Barleywine by Goose Island Beer Co. (2013-09-24)August 17th, 2024
2024-08-17
Really delicious! Surprisingly low oxidation and still a lovely mellow sweetness, really hides its ABV.
2015-01-25
The cotton candy is subdued, but this is still tasting great, especially as it warms up a bit.
2013-12-19
Amazing; calling it a barley wine seems almost cheating, it's super thick, awesome marshmallow sweetness coupled with a roastiness in the finish. This is great.
Drank 12 oz of Otto From The Wood by Hair of the Dog Brewing Company (2013)June 16th, 2024
2024-06-16
Big! up front, but lots of oak, sweetness, some toffee. Tasty but a sipper.
2014-03-30
Amazing beer, the fruit is crazy for the size and age, possibly some detritus in the bottle (barrel fragments?) but oh man who cares, amazing beer.
Drank 750 ml of Saison Bernice by Sante Adairius Rustic Ales (2013-09)June 16th, 2024
2024-06-16
A little funk but mostly sour, pretty mellow given the age! Kind of a harsh edge? But still enjoyable.
Drank 750 ml of Lucybelle by Sante Adairius Rustic Ales (2017)March 15th, 2024
2024-03-15
What a delightful warm evening treat. Rounded, balanced, extremely drinkable. A crowd pleaser.
Drank 750 ml of Fruitful Forecast - Mixed Berry by Sante Adairius Rustic Ales (2022)March 8th, 2024
2024-03-08
Lots of sediment in the pours, decently tart up front with some (but not a lot of) nebulous fruit on the palate. Not bad but not a favorite.
