2022-12-29 Enjoyed at HCBS #10. So good we had to drink 2. Surprised a few on how well the smoke and peat work with the BA stout. No significant issues with slight oxidation.

Drank 375 ml of SPON - Raspberry & Cherry by Jester King Craft Brewery (2016-06-21) | September 1st, 2018 |
2018-09-01 Bottle pour to glass, garnet/ruby red, light pink foam, no retention or lacing as expected. Nose is bright fruit, almost candy like, dominated by cherry. Taste follows the nose with lactic tartness. Raspberry hints but plays second. As much as I enjoy the fruit, the SPON base is lost to it. During travel beer traversed the cork, so I am very thankful these were stored upright. Maybe sideways would have kept the cork wet, but I prefer to avoid cork taste in beer over the ling term.
Drank 500 ml of R&D Champ Rouge by New Glarus Brewing Company (2017-04) | September 1st, 2018 |
2018-09-01 Brewed 10/16, bottled 4/17, consumed 9/1. Poured to tulip, deep red color, busy foam head that takes longer than expected to dissipate. Nose big on funk and brett, yet the red wine grapes still hold their own. Taste very complex in my opinion, although the funk my be a bit overdone relative to the grape. Excellent work melding flavors of beer and wine.
