Drank 12 oz of Blackout Stout by Great Lakes Brewing (2015-11-05) | February 11th, 2016 |
2016-02-08 A little disappointed, not quite what I wanted from an RIS. Kind of sweet, not completely black. Try chilled next time.
Drank 12 oz of Scotty Karate by Dark Horse Brewing Co. (2015) | February 10th, 2016 |

Drank 500 ml of Bourbon County Brand Barleywine by Goose Island Beer Co. (2015-10-29) | February 7th, 2016 |
2016-12-09 Definitely had the "off flavors". Barrel is in the aroma, not the flavor. Not at all unpleasant as a sour ale, tastes like tart cherries. You get some of the rich flavors for just the first instant it hits your tongue but then transitions to the sour. Flavor is less pleasant as it warms. Not what it should be. Drink cold and it will be OK. I can get sours at much less than 13% abv and that's not what it should be anyway. At least I got my money back. Might be worth just dumping the other bottle in favor, considering the opportunity cost.
Drank 12 oz of Hopslam by Bell's Brewery, Inc. (2016-01-14) | February 5th, 2016 |
Drank 12 oz of Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Barleywine by Central Waters Brewing Company (2016-01-14) | February 5th, 2016 |
2018-03-22 This is insanely good. Pure dessert. Hops barely present compared to the 2017 at this point. Not sure how much to attribute to vintage vs. age.
2016-04-13 Drank a bottle with a dessert consisting of butterscotch pudding and homemade shortbread. Really brought out the "American" style. Hops were much more prevalent when consumed with sweeter foods. Still amazing every time.
2016-02-05 Best just below room temperature.
Drank 12 oz of Sláinte Scottish Style Ale by Central Waters Brewing Company (2015) | February 4th, 2016 |
2016-01-23 Keep this one chilled. It's better when refrigerator cold.
Drank 12 oz of Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale by Central Waters Brewing Company (2015-08-06) | February 3rd, 2016 |
2020-02-20 Held up remarkably well, much better than the 2016 I opened the same night. Rich malty depth and retains more barrel than bourbon. Still, it showed its age, not a beer that needs cellaring. Sad to see CW let this one go.
2017-07-18 I like it chilled a bit, now, but not 44 degrees or anything. As good as it gets for me.
2016-08-27 The best. | |
2016-05-19 This is just my favorite beer. So rich and sweet, but not alcohol sweet. Smooth and delicious.
2016-05-04 Bourbon had faded significantly after 9 months. It's still there but more in the background. It's smoother overall but I really liked the big bourbon presence.
Drank 12 oz of Special Double Cream Stout by Bell's Brewery, Inc. (2015-11-04) | February 3rd, 2016 |
2016-02-03 Super roast, burnt flavor but not coffee-ish. Velvety mouthfeel. It's fine but I'd rather have a Guinness.
Drank 12 oz of Plead the 5th Imperial Stout by Dark Horse Brewing Co. (2015-12) | February 1st, 2016 |
2016-12-11 Same evaluation after a year in the cellar. Too much coffee bitterness for me. Great mouthfeel, smells pretty good, probably a very good beer but I just don't like it.
2016-02-01 It's probably a good imperial stout but too much coffee for me. Don't buy again. Also a palate wrecker.
Drank 12 oz of Sláinte Scottish Style Ale by Central Waters Brewing Company (2015) | February 1st, 2016 |
2016-01-23 Keep this one chilled. It's better when refrigerator cold.
Drank 12 oz of Skull Splitter by Orkney Brewery (2015-06-17) | February 1st, 2016 |
2016-01-13 Best fresh.
Drank 22 oz of Double Bastard Ale by Stone Brewing (2015-10-23) | January 31st, 2016 |
2016-01-31 Fantastic. Even more depth and lovely maltiness than Arrogant Bastard.
