Drank 16 oz of Bourbon County Brand Special #4 Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2020-09-11)February 26th, 2022
2024-07-27
This has held up remarkably well. Still plenty of coffee and flavorful maple syrup flavors.
2024-03-03
Lots of coffee and molasses, along with dark chocolate. A bit thinner than the regular stouts, but flavors linger for awhile.
2023-02-04
Coffee is still prominent, with a hint of sweetness from the maple. Holding up well so far.
2022-09-30
Lots of coffee; more than I remember. Glad I have a bunch of these left.
2022-02-26
Did a side by side with 2019 Café de Olla and 2020 Special #4. In the end, they’re both fantastic, but the Café de Olla wins. Thankfully, the cassia bark aka cinnamon has calmed down in the Café de Olla.
2020-12-31
This is a mouthful of coffee and not a whole lot of other flavors. There’s a subtle hint of the sweetness from the maple. It would have been better if Goose Island stuck with the base stout instead of the thinner, less malty, less flavorful oatmeal.
Drank 16 oz of Bourbon County Brand Café de Olla Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2019-08-08)February 26th, 2022

So much coffee. Not sure this has changed much in 3 years. The cinnamon just ends up adding a butter finish.

Coffee in this is tasting really nice. I still hope they go back to a coffee only BA stout, but this is good. The base also shines through with a lot of dark chocolate and malt.
2020-10-29
This seems like it has changed a bit since being fresh. Overwhelming amount of rich, dark chocolate and malt with just a hint of the coffee, orange and cinnamon.
2020-05-01
Lots of coffee up from that gives way to the acidity of the orange peel and spice of the cassia bark. The finish is dark roasted malt, that leads into dark chocolate and heat. Still prefer 2015/6 coffee over any subsequent release so far.
Drank 16 oz of Latte by Finback Brewery (2021-11-18)February 24th, 2022
2022-02-24
Lots of coffee. Not really getting coconut flavor, but perhaps it’s coming through as sweetness. I love most beers from Finback, but this one isn’t really my thing, despite the coffee, which I generally love in beer.
Drank 12 oz of Hotbox Coffee Porter by Oskar Blues Brewery (2015-11-30)February 23rd, 2022
2022-02-23
7 years old (11/2015). It’s very thin but there’s tons of coffee; not much else. I wasn’t thrilled with it 7 years ago when I bought it either.
Drank 12 oz of Imperial Cask Cuvee by Boulevard Brewing Company (2020)February 19th, 2022
2022-02-19
This is way better than I expected. Lots of dark malt and plenty of boozy bourbon notes. Added complexity from the finishing casks.
Drank 12 oz of Bamburana by Oskar Blues / Cigar City (2019-01-10)February 13th, 2022
2024-05-24
Still tastes great. Starting to detect a hint of age, but not in a bad way.
2023-03-25
Still tastes as I remember it. Sad they haven’t made this again.
2022-10-24
Holding up really well.
2020-11-19
Still so good.
2020-04-07
Holding up nicely so far. Still strong whiskey and fig flavors, with malt on the finish.
2019-03-17
Really interesting. Bold malty flavor, softened by the brandy and made slightly sharp by the whiskey. Sweetness from the figs and dates.
Drank 12 oz of Firestone 21 - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2017)February 13th, 2022
2022-02-13
Very good. Nice blend.
Drank 16 oz of Wandering Into the Fog by Abomination Brewing (2021-11-03)February 13th, 2022
2022-02-13
Good, but not the best variant of the fogs.
Drank 12 oz of Chico’s Revenge by 2nd Shift Brewery (2020-11-25)February 7th, 2022
2022-02-07
Definitely get the roastiness from the coffee. That quickly fades into a ton of sweetness, and then sits subtly on the palate. Too sweet for my liking, but still interesting.

Super smooth, complex, boozy, chocolatey, and delicious. Left it a bit warmer than usual and that allows the flavors I love to shine right away.

Vertical 2020
2020-05-30
Very dark, lots of dark chocolate and sweetness. I think this one was best fresh.

8 year vertical
2018-12-15
Mmmm. Welcome back my old friend. This is the BC I fell in love with but haven’t had since 2014. Dark, malty, bourbony booziness. Yum
Drank 16 oz of Juice Project by Tree House Brewing Company (2022-01-19)February 5th, 2022
2022-02-05
Very good, but not my favorite flavor profile. Still very drinkable.
