Drank 750 ml of Cantillon Iris by Brasserie Cantillon (2014-12-18)January 30th, 2021
2021-01-30
Cork perfect, amber-copper color, small white head, minimal lacing. Nose light funk, barnyard, grapefruit. Taste very complex, sourness seems to be both acetic and lactic, leaning on lactic, apple, grapefruit, mild bitterness, leather, earthy, dry finish.
Drank 275 ml of Harvest Ale (Lagavulin Cask) by JW Lees and Co. (Brewers) Ltd. (2013)January 24th, 2021

HCBS #13 beer. Loved by all at 10 years. Smokey, peaty scotch coming through as an excellent compliment to the ale.

Simply fantastic! Black Gap WMA

2021-01-19
Enjoyed at Black Gap WMA. Orange flavor tamed and more balanced.
2020-04-12
Seems more balanced now with less sweetness. Very good.
2019-11-28
Flavors melding, sweetness still a bit high. Very tasty in more of a desert way.
Drank 12 oz of Bourbon County Brand Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2013)January 18th, 2021

After some air it drank amazingly. Big body, very minor difference from new. Boozy and delicious.
2023-09-14
Enjoyed at HCBS #17 before a 2022. Wow, this one continues to hold up great! Was the favorite of the two hands-down. Bigger body and more complex.
2023-03-14
A bit disappointed on this one. Heavy mold on the cap but no infiltration on seal. Good flavor up front but finish not as good as others in this year.
2022-09-16
Somerset dove camp. Great with some signs of oxidation.
2022-08-09
At Gulpha Gorge campground fireside. Simply wonderful as usual.
2021-12-22
Nose: chocolate, fig, dark cherry. Taste: Boozy, brighter flavors. Body: Much smoother, more carb.

Great ale at Black Gap WMA
2020-04-24
A bit medicinal, hot, boozy. Very good but not the best bottle in this vintage.
2020-04-06
Another great bottle. I have to search for oxidation. Tremendous!

Drank 22 oz of Kickin' Chicken Bourbon Barrel Barley Wine by Santa Fe Brewing Company (2012)January 8th, 2021
2021-01-08
2012 bottle on Jan 8, 2021. Pouring translucent coppery brown, light head, light lacing. Nose a bit stale, some caramel and bourbon. Taste is surprisingly fresh, some maltiness, mostly floral, boozy, entirely unexpected. Slight oxidation on finish. Above average body and low carbonation. Kudos Brewer!
Drank 12 oz of Barrel Aged Legion by Community Beer Company (2016-11-09)January 7th, 2021

2023-07-18
Better than expected. Very enjoyable. Slight off taste at the end
2022-12-29
Enjoyed at HCBS #10. So good we had to drink 2. Surprised a few on how well the smoke and peat work with the BA stout. No significant issues with slight oxidation.

Very good! This one had little signs of oxidation. Loved it
2021-09-08
OK carbonation. Not as oxidized as others. Scotch barrel fading.
2021-01-07
Starting to fade. Need to run through these fast.
2020-07-24
This one not great, oxidized.
2020-06-02

Fun times at Josh and Mel's.
Drank 500 ml of Scots Gone Wild by Real Ale Brewing Company (2016)January 3rd, 2021
2021-01-03
Opaque brown, no head, slight foam ring. Nose more funky than scotch, some cherry and vinegar. Taste comes up sour, some malt sweetness, but very tart. Acetic along with other bugs. Not recognizable as a scotch ale. Reminds me of a BFM Chien more than anything else. Body is maybe a bit more than average but much less than expected, carbonation low.
Drank 750 ml of Abbaye De Saint Bon-Chien by Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes (2014)December 31st, 2020
2020-12-31
Super sour, acetic. Great flavors from the wood.

2020-12-31
The 5 years have treated the ale well. Barrel notes are tremendous. Wish there were more.
Drank 750 ml of Das Wunderkind! Saison by Jester King Craft Brewery (2013-04)December 31st, 2020
2024-01-16
Faded on nose and palate but otherwise near flawless. Standard JK funk and flavors. Mild tartness.
2020-12-31
Apr 2013 bottle. Slightly hazy yellow, still some head, good retention. Nose of barn, light oak, funk. Taste has grapefruit, wood, slightly tart, dry. Aged very well!
Drank 330 ml of Trappist Westvleteren 12 by Brouwerij Westvleteren (2012-12-12)December 25th, 2020
2023-12-25
Really falling off. Lacking most flavor. Not really off, but need to roll through these.
2023-06-18
Great Father's Day treat with Scott and Michelle. Oxidation quite present but not a deal buster.
2023-02-14
Superb on Valentine's Day!
2022-12-29
Enjoyed at HCBS #10. Everyone loved this 10-year-old ale. Spectacular nose and taste, floral, and distinctly Westvleteren.
2021-12-12
Dec 12 special and excellent. Amazing after 9 years. Trying to find flaws and not happening.
2021-07-04
Enjoyed at Pat and Sue's. Still wonderful.
2021-05-04
8 years old and outstanding. The bubbles on pour fully present and active. Nose has all the wonderful westy notes. Taste full with minimal oxidation. Very impressed.
2020-12-25
Merry Christmas on Lake Texoma! Hiss on open but no head, near still, brown. Nose having a caramel accent. Taste is divine as fresh.
2020-05-08
Strong boozy, drinking well with some oxidation notes. Will watch for years to come.

Drank 750 ml of Saison - Brett by Boulevard Brewing Company (2015)December 8th, 2020
2020-12-08
Hoppiness dropped as to be expected. Excellent saison with no imperfections showing. Brett may be slightly more pronounced.
Drank 22 oz of Mirror Mirror by Deschutes Brewery (2014)November 29th, 2020
2020-11-29
2014 consumed Nov 2020. Very dark amber approaching brown, good with head with some lacing. Nose showing signs of age but good with wood notes along with a floral hint. Taste sweet malts, still has hop bitterness, holding up very well with no real signs of oxidation. Big body and ample carbonation to balance.
