Drank 22 oz of The Abyss Scotch Barrel-Aged by Deschutes Brewery (2016) | February 17th, 2022 |
2022-02-17 Near black, brown head does not linger, no lacing. Nose wood, liquor, chocolate. Taste more of the same, some oxidation at 5+ years, boozy. Heavy body and light carbonation.
Drank 500 ml of Golden Grove by Vista Brewing (2019-12) | February 15th, 2022 |
2022-02-15 Clear golden color with slightest have from sediment, no head or lacing. Super fruity nose, mild funk. Lactic tart, apple, not very citrusy, barnhouse notes on finish. Light feel and carbonation leads to stingy finish.
Drank 12 oz of 120 Minute IPA by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (2014-02-17) | February 7th, 2022 |
2022-02-07 8 year old IPA. Yes, it is good! Amazingly good for what it is. Hops did a fine job preserving the ale. Color seems darker that usual. Nose is still hoppy with less pine and more dim fruit. Taste malty, some oxidation, with greatly diminished hops more like barleywine than the original issue. Bigger body and medium-low carbonation.
Drank 750 ml of Darkness by Surly Brewing Co. (2014) | February 4th, 2022 |
2022-02-04 Coming in late but not too late on this one. Pours near black with active brown head that fully dissipates. Nose of cherry, vanilla, light coffee. Taste adds chocolate but the fruit flavors of raisin and dried cherry is so present. Booziness from whiskey, slight burn with coffee finish. Body is perfect, a bit creamy, thick with mild carbonation. At over 7 years old simply amazing!
Drank 750 ml of Black Betty Imperial Stout - Reserve Series Aged In Whiskey Barrels by Nebraska Brewing Company (2014) | February 1st, 2022 |
2022-02-01 Not much better than the one just purchased off a warm shelf. Missed the prime by a long shot.
2022-01-01 Highly oxidized but drinkable. A bit of whiskey and some barrel.
Drank 22 oz of Bourbon Barrel Aged Hellfighter w/ Chocolate by Karbach Brewing | January 30th, 2022 |
2022-01-30 By far the best variant. Great bourbon and chocolate notes. Would buy again.
Drank 22 oz of Bourbon Barrel Aged Hellfighter w/ Cherries by Karbach Brewing | January 12th, 2022 |
2022-01-12 Not oxidized, but rather flat. Cherry is there but not very cherry. Bourbon barrel less prominent than original.
Drank 22 oz of Bourbon Barrel Aged Hellfighter by Karbach Brewing | January 11th, 2022 |
2022-01-11 Considering unknown age, pretty good but oxidized. Nose has the bourbon barrel but also off. Taste pretty good.
Drank 750 ml of Vague Recollection by Jester King Craft Brewery (2016-11) | January 10th, 2022 |
2022-01-10 Beautiful hue golden were the darker red hint, no head retention or lacing. Nose mild grape wine, other fruits of melon and citrus. Grape more prominent on taste, dry, mostly lactic with minor barnyard. No visible carbonation but present on palate.
Drank 500 ml of La Bonté with Plum by Wicked Weed (2015-10-09) | January 8th, 2022 |
2022-01-08 Minor haze golden, slight white head. Nose conveys fruit and funk. Sourness pure lacto, clean, fruit nice addition, funky with slight cheese. Medium body and higher than expected carbonation for 5+ year old bottle.
Drank 750 ml of Black Betty Imperial Stout - Reserve Series Aged In Whiskey Barrels by Nebraska Brewing Company (2014) | January 1st, 2022 |
2022-02-01 Not much better than the one just purchased off a warm shelf. Missed the prime by a long shot.
2022-01-01 Highly oxidized but drinkable. A bit of whiskey and some barrel.

2021-12-29 Oxidized badly but drinkable. Enjoyed.
2021-07-15 Seems to be making a comeback. Finish is off but not terribly. Good roasty and cocoa notes. Enjoyable.
2020-09-02 Super happy with this bottle. Roasty malt, great color, no flaws. Even the finish is clean. Great mouthfell. Might be drier than originally.
2019-07-24 Holding up but the end is coming
2019-05-07 Surprisingly good!
2017-12-04 Now sure these have much longer to go. Very drinkable but getting some aftertaste issues.

2021-12-25 Drinking well. Seems a bit more bitter.
2021-03-05 Drinking very good, moderate sour, no roughness or soapiness.
Drank 7 oz of XS Imperial Stout by Rogue Ales (2009) | December 25th, 2021 |
2022-10-20 The end of an era. Bought these 15 years ago! This last bottle had a great chocolate note with near heavy moutfeel. Oxidation in check. Truly enjoyed. Not seen a a 7oz bottle in a very long time.
2022-07-22 Poker at Jason's. Bad but not as horrible as the last one.
2021-12-25 No good. Oxidation taken over. Not much hope.
2019-11-10 A little more signs of oxidation. Still holding roasted malt flavors.
2019-03-24 Shocked at this 10 year old stout. Not sure how, but oxidation is next to nothing. Rich, unique flavor layered on the roasted malt. |
