Drank 12 oz of Oktoberfest by Left Hand Brewing Company | August 11th, 2017 |
2017-08-10 Has a dark, burnt flavor that I didn't expect. Smells like a lager but tastes rather like a red ale. Biscuity? Not quite. Maybe toasty.

Drank 12 oz of Octoberfest Lager by Central Waters Brewing Company (2017-06-13) | August 10th, 2017 |
2017-08-20 This is a lot crisper in the Spiegelau glass. A little less sweet. I think I like it better in the pilsener glass.
2017-08-10 Malty but sweet. When did this come out? 2 months isn't over the hill but do they release their Oktoberfest in June? Still, it goes down easy with a ritz cracker kind of character.

Drank 12 oz of Thumbprint Enigma by New Glarus Brewing Company (2017-01-08) | August 9th, 2017 |
2018-04-13 Again big malt, less fermented cherry than I remember. Smells like vinegar but more of a moderate sour on the tongue. Carbonation is delightful as ever. Not sure I can put this up there with my favorites any more. Cran-bic is so good. And I still have an Oud Bruin left. Wished New Glarus would put out more in this vein instead Weiss beers.
2017-08-09 So much maltier than I remember. Gives it a lot more depth, although it's not as crisply refreshing. Mutes the cherries a bit, too. Oddly reminds me of BBQ now, even though I don't like that beer.
2017-03-26 Such a drinkable sour. New Glarus sours work for me. Less cherry and less carbonation than I remember.
Drank 12 oz of Bourbon Barrel Scotty Karate by Dark Horse Brewing Co. (2017-05-26) | August 8th, 2017 |
2017-11-28 I noticed the barrel a lot more with big vanilla tones when it was fully chilled, still had that Scotty bite. I liked it quite a bit this time.
2017-10-16 Not much flavor when chilled, or at least not much more flavor than the reg variety although it smells great. It gets pretty sweet when it warms, though. I like the non BA variety better, and it's half the price...
2017-08-08 I guess I like this one better fully cold. It's not that the bourbon comes out more, but it just becomes so rich and sweet.
2017-07-28 Lighter on the barrel than I prefer. Still has that Scotty bite but with some fuzzy warmth. Hard to say if it's improved, though. I like Scotty for that bite, when I want a bourbon barrel scotch ale, bring the bourbon! CW still rules. And this was >$16, more than double regular Scotty.
Drank 12 oz of Staghorn Octoberfest by New Glarus Brewing Company (2017-06-28) | August 7th, 2017 |

Drank 22 oz of Caught in the Rain by Central Waters Brewing Company | August 6th, 2017 |
2017-08-06 Big time pineapple. Coconut savor comes at the end. I could do without the coconut but it's fine. The pineapple and hops combine really nicely. Take out the coconut, put it in a 12 oz 6 pack and I could see myself buying this regularly.
Drank 12 oz of Expedition Stout by Bell's Brewery, Inc. (2015-10-16) | August 5th, 2017 |
2020-03-14 Still fantastic. No drop-off but my preference center's around the three year mark. Barrel-aged is great but not what I want all the time. Perfect with beef stew.
2018-07-23 Nearly 3 years old and this is in it's prime.
2016-10-19 Yep, this is my definition of Russian Imperial Stout.
Drank 12 oz of Ghost Hammer IPA by Stone Brewing (2017-07-05) | August 4th, 2017 |
Drank 12 oz of Raspberry Tart by New Glarus Brewing Company | August 4th, 2017 |
Drank 12 oz of KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) by Founders Brewing (2017-02-21) | August 3rd, 2017 |
2017-10-15 A little more bitter than I remembered. Smoothed a bit as it warmed but still more coffee and dark chocolate than I prefer. Bourbon is barely there right now to my palate.
2017-05-21 This is the best KBS has ever tasted to me. So balanced and chocolaty, but not rich. Deceptively smooth at nearly 12% ABV. Thinner than many consider ideal for big stouts but screw that, this is basically perfect. A little bitter but coffee doesn't overwhelm. Bourbon is surprisingly low key which really lets the other flavors shine.
2017-04-07 Harsher than the 2016 but has more flavor. Hope it will settle a bit in the bottle. Exquisitely balanced as always.
Drank 12 oz of Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale by Central Waters Brewing Company (2017-07-18) | August 2nd, 2017 |
2020-01-28 Holds up well but doesn't particularly benefit from ageing. Tastes the same as the 2018, which is to say excellent.
2017-12-10 Unknown date of consumption. Forgot to record an entry somewhere.
2017-08-02 Different than any previous year I remember. Smells like straight up whiskey, tastes like burnt caramel. It's not unpleasant but doesn't have the malty sweet richness I love. It's fresh, though. Needs some time to settle.
