Drank 750 ml of There Are Rules by The Rare Barrel (2016-08-09) | November 5th, 2017 |
2021-06-18 Standout, mellowed and lots of fruit in the nose and on the palate. Delicious, crowd favorite.
2017-11-05 Lots of fruit but it all works well together. Conclusion: basically impossible to add too much fruit to one of these beers. Really good.
Drank 750 ml of Sourtooth Tiger by The Rare Barrel (2016-09-08) | November 5th, 2017 |
2017-11-05 A lot more tart than the '14 Sourtooth, probably due to batch differences, though the former may have mellowed with age. A little too sharp but that's just me disliking the ginger, mostly.
2017-05-30 Some sour, some ginger. Actually quite nice, once the initial ginger finish wore off.
Drank 750 ml of Sourtooth Tiger by The Rare Barrel (2014-07-22) | November 5th, 2017 |
2021-09-25 Ginger has not mellowed with time. Fun beer, refreshing, but oh so much ginger.
2017-11-05 Still very ginger forward, but otherwise a really mellow beer. Probably my favorite of the two Sourtooths.
Drank 16 oz of Elevated IPA by La Cumbre (2017-09-29) | October 27th, 2017 |
Drank 650 ml of Double Double Barrel Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2012) | August 19th, 2017 |
2017-08-19 Started with this one; about what I remember, lots of malt but a nice bitterness to back up the style, at least relative to some of the other English styles on pour for the evening.
2012-12-28 Quite malty! Notes of molasses, candy, moderate carbonation, mild booziness. Should do well with aging.
Drank 650 ml of Double Double Barrel Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2013) | August 19th, 2017 |
2013-09-07 Smoooooth. Tiniest bit of alcohol heat on the finish, tons of toffee and molasses, along with a hint of vanilla, on the palate. Delicious, much better than I remember the 2012 being.
Drank 650 ml of Double Double Barrel Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2014) | August 19th, 2017 |
Drank 650 ml of Firestone 14 - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2010) | August 19th, 2017 |
2017-08-19 Was the favorite anniversary beer of the night. Great roasted character, an extremely mild amount of oxidation for the age, and lots of chocolate. Awesome beer.
2015-03-09 Delicious, has held up so well, a surprising amount of heat in there even! Chocolate, malt, toffee, no anise (thankfully), love it. Glad to had another as this beer is still kicking strong.
2013-12-24 Great roastiness all throughout, not much in the nose but awesome taste profile, has held up amazingly. Absolute delight.
Drank 650 ml of Firestone 15 - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2011) | August 19th, 2017 |
2017-08-19 Tasting, somewhat surprisingly, a lot more oxidized than the 14. Expressed as more bitterness, less of a smooth blend. Not bad but hasn't held up extremely well.
2014-01-02 Delicious. Definitely more of a barleywine than some of the other anniversary blends, but has come along really nicely, with a great balance of malt and smooth roasty notes. Dig it.
2012-12-28 First tasting (December 2011) was silky and sweet with lots of vanilla and booziness.
Drank 650 ml of Firestone 16 - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2012) | August 19th, 2017 |
2017-08-19 Just a taste of this one, but also lots of oxidation if memory serves.
2016-01-09 Tasting great, almost a stout but not quite, smooth, very little heat, delicious.
Drank 650 ml of Firestone 17 - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2013-10-01) | August 19th, 2017 |
2017-08-19 Also just a taste of this one, seemed a bit sweeter, less time for oxidation to set in. Not bad.
2015-02-13 Still tasting great, like a strong ale, not boozy, lots of chocolate, caramel, and toffy.
Drank 500 ml of Firestone 18 - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2014) | August 19th, 2017 |
2015-01-02 Tons of malt in the nose, but balanced on the palate, some mild stout characteristics give way to more of an Double Double Barrel kind of profile. Tasty, and not hot in the slightest.
Drank 500 ml of Firestone 19 - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2015) | August 19th, 2017 |
2017-08-19 Still tasting pretty fresh but no heat, great malt forward flavor, and nicely blended. Reminds me that these are great fresh or close to as well.
Drank 650 ml of Firestone XX - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2016) | August 19th, 2017 |
2017-08-19 Probably the second best anniversary of the evening? Fresh but amazing blend, no heat, lots of different sweet aspects working to together. Great beer.
Drank 500 ml of Helldorado by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2015) | August 19th, 2017 |
2017-08-19 This one kicked surprisingly early and I didn't get a chance to try it. Shame!
2015-12-24 Tons of vanilla, a bit of bourbon, huge malt presence and quite sweet. A definite sipper, best split between four people probably. |
