Nice sour tartness, nice color, a hint of fruit. Held up great.
Drank 750 ml of Victory at Sea - Rum and Rye Barrel Aged by Ballast Point Brewing Company (2016-12-09)December 16th, 2017
2017-12-16
Basically a boozy take on Victory at Sea. Pretty good! Not heavy at all for its ABV.
Drank 22 oz of Grüngeist by Pipeworks Brewing Company (2017)December 4th, 2017
2017-12-04
Maltier than expected, probably not a super fresh bottle, but still not bad. Hints of piney/resinous backend, but mostly subsumed by the malty aspects.
Drank 750 ml of Soliloquy by The Rare Barrel (2014-11-05)November 5th, 2017
2017-11-05
Was a group favorite, with the rose and orange really playing nicely off each other. Delicious and quaffable.
Drank 750 ml of Sirius Black by The Rare Barrel (2014-05-21)November 5th, 2017
2017-11-05
Nice blackberry presence, simple and delicious.
Drank 750 ml of Shadows Of Their Eyes by The Rare Barrel (2014-02-07)November 5th, 2017
2017-11-05
Despite this beer being rather straightforward, still really enjoyable. A nice example of their base dark beer without any adjuncts.
Drank 750 ml of Quite Something by The Rare Barrel (2015-12-02)November 5th, 2017
2017-11-05
Really liked the Bordeaux beers this evening, as that flavor really shows through in a tasty way. A little sweet, a little tart, really nice.
Drank 750 ml of Proportional Response by The Rare Barrel (2014-02-12)November 5th, 2017
2017-11-05
Least favorite beer of the evening. Not bad at all, just rather boring and straightforward.
Drank 750 ml of On The Shoulders Of Giants by The Rare Barrel (2014-05-30)November 5th, 2017
2017-11-05
The most cherry-forward beer of the night, while the base beer itself was rather mild. I wasn't a huge fan of this combo, though others expressed a lot of liking, so probably depends on what you're into.
Drank 750 ml of Map of the Sun by The Rare Barrel (2015-09-01)November 5th, 2017
2019-11-07
Tasting great! Still a lot of fruit up front and a lot of apricot astringency on the back end, but really mellow and drinkable overall.
2017-11-05
Delicious as always, nicely balanced, nice astringency. Was great to try this between Map of the Moon and Keen Observation.
2016-04-01
Awesome tang and sourness, still a good deal of apricot, and really mellows as it warms. Great beer.
Drank 750 ml of Map of the Moon by The Rare Barrel (2016-04-01)November 5th, 2017
2021-09-03
Still lots of apricot and quite delicious
2017-11-05
SO much apricot still there, totally holding it's own. Map of the Sun on steroids, and it works, even helping to hide some of the astringency.
Drank 750 ml of Keen Observation by The Rare Barrel (2016-02-18)November 5th, 2017
2017-11-05
Like a super mellow cousin to Map of the Sun, a really pleasant quaffer. Could drink this all day in the summer.
Drank 750 ml of Impossible Soul by The Rare Barrel (2015-05-20)November 5th, 2017
2017-11-05
Cherries very astringent and present here still, with the tart cherries dominating. Quite good!
2017-01-06
Lots of fruit, great pucker, all around solid sour with the typical Rare Barrel profile. Digging it.
Drank 750 ml of Hypnotized by The Rare Barrel (2016-01-06)November 5th, 2017
2017-11-05
Didn't have much of this one, but the Ensorcelled presence was noticeably, got some of that dark sour presence. Decent.
Drank 750 ml of Home, Sour Home by The Rare Barrel (2015-04-15)November 5th, 2017
2017-11-05
This beer has held up! Might even be a little better than fresh given the spices have faded. A huge hit among everyone tonight.
2016-04-07
Delicious! Still a solid amount of cinnamon, especially after it warmed up.
