Drank 25 oz of Three Philosophers by Brewery Ommegang (2011) | April 19th, 2020 |
2021-04-03 Held up really well despite most carbonation being gone.
2021-01-02 Held up amazingly well.
2020-04-19 Sadly there’s not much left to this after 9 years. Just a hint of tartness from the cherries on the finish.
Drank 25 oz of Abbey Ale by Brewery Ommegang (2009) | April 19th, 2020 |
2020-07-26 Reminded us of a barleywine. Aged pretty well over 11 years.
2020-04-19 Still plenty of carbonation. Lots of fine sediment in the side, how it was resting. Plenty of malt flavor still left.
Drank 16 oz of The Product by Short Throw Brewing Co (2019-11-08) | April 14th, 2020 |
2020-04-14 Very light, sweet and fruity.
Drank 12 oz of KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) by Founders Brewing (2018-02-26) | April 12th, 2020 |
2020-05-05 This hasn’t lost much of anything, save a little vanilla.
2020-04-12 Don’t taste any coffee on this one any longer. The 2019 I had earlier was much better.
2018-03-30 Good this year, though I’m less tolerant each year of the bitterness. If they reduced that, it would likely still be in my top 5.
Drank 12 oz of KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) by Founders Brewing (2019-02-13) | April 12th, 2020 |
2020-05-29 Really good. Lots of coffee at the front, followed by tons of dark chocolate. No loss of flavor after 1 year.
2020-05-06 Loads of dark chocolate with a hint of coffee. Finish is roasted malt and lingering dark chocolate. Held up well.
2019-03-16 Really good until the very end when bitterness sets in and becomes the only thing lingering on the palette.
Drank 12 oz of Bamburana by Oskar Blues / Cigar City (2019-01-10) | April 7th, 2020 |
2024-05-24 Still tastes great. Starting to detect a hint of age, but not in a bad way.
2023-03-25 Still tastes as I remember it. Sad they haven’t made this again.
2022-10-24 Holding up really well.
2020-11-19 Still so good.
2020-04-07 Holding up nicely so far. Still strong whiskey and fig flavors, with malt on the finish.
2019-03-17 Really interesting. Bold malty flavor, softened by the brandy and made slightly sharp by the whiskey. Sweetness from the figs and dates.
Drank 12 oz of Michigan Maple Jesus by Evil Twin (2016) | April 4th, 2020 |
2020-04-04 Still very sweet after 4 years. Same smokiness I tasted last year when I opened one. Nice roastiness on the finish.
2019-01-14 Gained a Smokey character.
2016-10-17 Wow. Nice and boozy, sweetness from the bourbon and maple syrup. Nice dark malty finish and oh so smooth. Really good.
Drank 16 oz of Bourbon County Brand Stout (2016) by Goose Island Beer Co. (2016-10-07) | March 31st, 2020 |
2023-12-10 Bourbon County Vertical 2023
2023-01-29 Starting to take on some aged characteristics, but not in a bad way.
2022-12-04 Bourbon County Vertical 2022
2022-04-07 This is really holding up very well. Lots of barrel, smooth/silky mouthfeel, and lots of chocolate and roasted malt.
2021-12-12 Bourbon County Vertical 2021
2020-12-05 Vertical 2020
2020-05-28 Has aged very well. Lots of dark, roasted malt and booziness.
2020-05-22 Lots of dark chocolate and roasted malt. Thin for BC.
2020-03-12 Put some cold brewed coffee in. yumm
2019-12-08 8 year vertical
2018-06-14 Really good, smooth, boozy, rich and roasty.
2016-12-01 Great fresh.
Drank 16 oz of Heavy Crown by Torch & Crown Brewing Company (2019-12-16) | March 29th, 2020 |
2020-03-29 This is a burst of coffee and tastes really good. The only negative is the bitterness that comes on the finish. Would love a BA version.
Drank 16 oz of Bourbon County Brand Vanilla Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2018-09-04) | March 24th, 2020 |
2021-12-12 Bourbon County Vertical 2021
Still tons of vanilla. | |
2021-06-21 Crazy amount of vanilla.
2020-05-25 Each one I open has a varying amount of vanilla. This one is like chugging a bottle of vanilla extract; a bit heavy.
2020-03-24 Vanilla is still very prominent. The original recipe comes in with rich chocolate and malt on the finish.
2018-11-25 Oh wow it that a lot of vanilla that hits right away! Yum. Then the really dark malty, chocolatey flavor from the stout comes in, followed by the booziness of the bourbon barrels. Excellent!
Drank 16 oz of Bourbon County Brand Midnight Orange by Goose Island Beer Co. (2018-09-20) | March 22nd, 2020 |
2024-09-19 With Mike and Katie
2022-12-04 Bourbon County Vertical 2022
2022-08-09 More chocolate than orange now. Still good.
2022-06-07 Definitely starting to show its age and the orange has changed a bit, but there’s plenty orange left and the base beer shines through beautifully.
2020-09-08 Still tons of orange. Super dark, chocolatey, malty, and sticky on the lips. I hope they make this again someday.
2020-06-13 Orange is still strong at the front. Holding up well.
2020-03-22 This one seems to have lost a bit of carbonation and the Orange has faded a bit. I bought this one more recently so maybe not stored well.
Drank 16 oz of Hydro Dipping by Woodstock Brewing (2019-10-17) | March 21st, 2020 |
2020-03-21 Lots of sediment, but I guess it’s to be expected since it’s 5 months old. Not my favorite from them, but good.
Drank 12 oz of Double Bag Ale by Long Trail Brewing Co (2018-01-16) | March 17th, 2020 |
2020-03-17 The top of the bottle cracked when I opened it. Shards of glass everywhere, so couldn’t even try it, but doubt I would’ve liked it.
Drank 12 oz of Sam '76 by Boston Beer Company (2019-09) | March 17th, 2020 |
Drank 12 oz of Fayston Maple Imperial Stout by Lawson's Finest Liquids (2019-11-04) | March 14th, 2020 |
2020-03-14 Been looking for this for years. Not what I expected, or perhaps not as good as the hype years ago. Thin, roasted malt heavy, little sweet. |
