Drank 12 oz of Jai Alai IPA by Cigar City Brewing (2018-06-19)July 17th, 2018

Reminds me a lot of Founders' Azacca IPA. Hits most of the IPA notes but the crystal malt is sweeter than I want for the style.

Good. Expensive.
Drank 750 ml of Kriek Cuvée René by Brouwerij Lindemans (2016-02-05)July 15th, 2018

Smells like vinegary wine. Champagne carbonation. Very sour but tolerable. Lots of flavor, cherry doesn't dominate. Not that it isn't good, but doesn't need to be this sour and kind of expensive for being just OK. Who knows what would happen after 5 years, why bother? There's plenty of stuff I prefer readily available.

This was exceptional. I'll admit it was lacking the bite I've come to relish in an RIS but incredibly smooth at 12%. Raisin and cappuccino, chocolate. More creamy than viscous. Aroma was lacking as it warmed. Very pleasantly sweet, never cloying. Almost salty in a way. Balanced for, again, 12%. Well done. Far better than the 2015.

Drank 12 oz of Thumbprint Oud Bruin by New Glarus Brewing Company (2016-01-14)July 11th, 2018

Wow. This might be the best sour I have ever had. Really malty for a sour, in my experience. Had some sweet berry like notes. Maybe cherry? Not overpoweringly sour. So much more depth than a year ago. Another one I would like to always have on hand. New Glarus makes my favorite sours, hands down.
Drank 12 oz of Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout by Central Waters Brewing Company (2017-10-17)July 10th, 2018

Cocoa powder. Less bourbon than I remember from the other bottle, wouldn't mind a little more. It also needs another month, at least, to settle in the bottle. But maybe the best vintage that I can remember.

The 2016 took a few months to get this good. This one is ready to go out of the gate. Chocolate bomb on the nose and tongue. Some coffee at the backend, too. More than I remember in other vintages. This is simply great. Reaffirms that I don't _need_ any other barrel stout.
Drank 12 oz of Thumbprint Wild Sour Ale by New Glarus Brewing Company (2018)July 9th, 2018
Drank 12 oz of Serendipity by New Glarus Brewing CompanyJuly 8th, 2018

Very heavy on the apple from the Teku glass.
2016-05-19
Blows me away, every time. The wrong food pairing can wreck this beer, though. First glass was amazing. After a salad with vinegar mustard dressing, all I could taste was the apples and a little cherry tart and cranberry sour.
Drank 12 oz of Strawberry Rhubarb by New Glarus Brewing CompanyJuly 7th, 2018

Whoa, is something wrong with this batch? Tastes like overripe strawberries this time.
Drank 22 oz of Solid Non Fail Stout by MobCraft Beer (2018-03-20)July 6th, 2018

Less balanced in flavor but has held up well. Smooth for 12%.
2018-07-06
Full flavored and well-balanced for 12%. Coffee and maple are just right. The coffee is a little more bitter than I prefer but not too bad. Reminiscent of a chocolate coffee ice cream. Smooths out and sweetens as it warms. Not as viscous as I was expecting. Has an oily residue. Smells like sweet coffee.
Drank 12 oz of Dr. Vennum by Ale Asylum (2018-06-18)July 4th, 2018

This was really good. Full flavor at 7%. Pineapple aroma, nonspecific fruity flavor. Doesn't finish clean, hop oils linger with bitterness. Really nice job with this one. Glad to find it fresh. Would crush again.
