Drank 12 oz of Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale by Central Waters Brewing Company (2017-07-18) | August 22nd, 2018 |
2020-01-28 Holds up well but doesn't particularly benefit from ageing. Tastes the same as the 2018, which is to say excellent.
2017-12-10 Unknown date of consumption. Forgot to record an entry somewhere.
2017-08-02 Different than any previous year I remember. Smells like straight up whiskey, tastes like burnt caramel. It's not unpleasant but doesn't have the malty sweet richness I love. It's fresh, though. Needs some time to settle.
Drank 12 oz of Peruvian Morning by Central Waters Brewing Company (2018-03-06) | August 21st, 2018 |
2018-08-01 Has definitely smoothed out after a few months. Quite pleasant, coffee isn't as bitter. Never had a strong barrel flavor, just a little sweetness and depth. Can't promise I would guess it's barrel aged if I didn't already know. That's really the only disappointing thing. I should grade on a curve at 8% but come on, guys!
2018-04-11 Very strong coffee flavor. I wonder what the base beer is like because it's not massive. Some nice chocolate stuff as well but the coffee is the featured player. Thankfully the coffee isn't bitter. I can't really detect any whiskey and I'm hard pressed to be more specific regarding any qualities lent by the barrel besides depth. Easy to understand they'd be reticent to leave it in the barrel for an extended period of time given their previous production issues with this beer. Is this just their brewhouse stout barrel aged (or vice versa)? Doesn't seem like a candidate for aging at this ABV, although I'm not sure it's really 8.5%.
Drank 12 oz of Staghorn Octoberfest by New Glarus Brewing Company | August 20th, 2018 |
2020-08-13 Great vintage, just like I want it. Just enough sweetness but more toasty malt goodness.
2018-08-16 Seems sweeter this year, less of a malty bite than last year.
Drank 12 oz of Strawberry Rhubarb by New Glarus Brewing Company | August 19th, 2018 |
2021-10-23 Whoa, is something wrong with this batch? Tastes like overripe strawberries this time.

Drank 12 oz of Stone Farking Wheaton W00t Stout by Stone Brewing (2018-06-26) | August 18th, 2018 |
Drank 12 oz of Brewer’s Reserve Rum Barrel Coconut Porter by Central Waters Brewing Company (2018-02-15) | August 17th, 2018 |
2018-04-21 Tastes more like a mixed drink than a beer. Fun and interesting but only as a one off. Huge rum, plenty of coconut savor, big chocolate notes. Would be much better at around 8% but this was 12.

Drank 12 oz of Burton Baton by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (2015-07-01) | August 14th, 2018 |
2018-08-14 Holds up well after 3 years. Maybe better around 1.5 to 2.
2017-03-08 Kind of like a Belgian Strong Ale, candy sugar sweetness but with more malty depth. Some Dried fruit sweetness, as well. Carbonation is superb, incredibly delicate bubbles that give a velvety feel. It's probably not brewed to taste like this but by sheer coincidence is excellent as it ages.
2016-12-21 I need to try this one fresh because I really like it with some age on it. Would be interesting (and expensive) to compare.
Drank 12 oz of Thumbprint Wild Sour Ale by New Glarus Brewing Company (2018) | August 13th, 2018 |
