Drank 12 oz of Celebration Ale by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. (2016-10-13) | November 21st, 2016 |
2016-11-17 I remember loving this a couple years ago. Now it's meh. I need to back off the ABVs but that's where the flavor is.
Drank 25 oz of Raspberry Tart by New Glarus Brewing Company | November 20th, 2016 |
Drank 22 oz of The Czar by Avery Brewing Company (2015-11) | November 20th, 2016 |
2016-11-20 Great RIS. Roasty and dark and heavy. Smells a bit smoky. Worthwhile and reasonably priced. But nothing has surpassed Bell's Expedition Stout for me in the non-barrel-aged category.

Drank 12 oz of Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale by Central Waters Brewing Company (2016) | November 16th, 2016 |
2020-02-20 Unfortunately this one had turned pretty far, I didn't want any more after the first sip. Parents still thought it was good until I opened the 2015, which had fared much better.
Drank 12 oz of Puff by Sixpoint Craft Ales | November 15th, 2016 |
2016-11-15 After four cans I'm ready to make my decision. I'm putting this in the category of don't drink again, not that good. Alcohol shows up way too much. I've had plenty of 9-10% IIPAs that weren't this sweet. Malt is way out of balance. The hop profile is pretty good, pleasantly bitter with musty, earthy, floral flavors. Great aroma and otherwise enjoyable but not worth the price or the alcohol. I'll take a NvU any day. Same price, more beer, less alcohol.

Drank 330 ml of Adam - Old World Ale by Brouweij De Molen / Hair of the Dog (2015-07-21) | November 13th, 2016 |
2016-11-13 Spicy and burnt. Reminds me of Scotty Karate but tastes like brown sugar at the end. Would love to have more of this but $9 for 33cl is too much.
Drank 12 oz of Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout by North Coast Brewing Co. (2015-12-21) | November 11th, 2016 |
2016-11-11 Not sure about this experiment of aging Rasputin. Doesn't seem to gain anything from the time, definitely loses something. Kind of just tastes like cold Postum right now. Shouldn't be surprising, considering the ingredients of each brew. Also reminds me of old Guinness Extra Stout. Two beers that shouldn't be aged, apparently. One bottle left, will see if anything changes.

Drank 12 oz of Backwoods Bastard by Founders Brewing (2016-09-22) | November 9th, 2016 |
2017-03-15 Wow, finally, 6 months after bottling it's finally starting to taste right. That weird, hoppy? flavor has faded and it's sweet and boozy and carmely and buttery.
2016-12-10 Something's wrong this year. Last year was as good as any barrel aged wee heavy on the market. This year has a bitter bite the destroys the carmely sweetness. Can't believe I bought so much this year instead of last year.
Drank 375 ml of Simcoe Sour by Almanac Beer Co. (2015-09-03) | November 8th, 2016 |
2016-11-08 When you're in the mood for a sour AND and IPA. This one was fantastic. Some sours take too much pleasure in how sour and vinegar-y they can be but this is very refreshing and drinkable. Hoppy at the same time. Even after a year of aging. I'll have to try this fresh sometime, too. Would buy again. Pricey, though. |
