Drank 12 oz of Staghorn Octoberfest by New Glarus Brewing Company (2016-08-24) | September 9th, 2016 |
Drank 12 oz of Old Foghorn by Anchor Brewing (2013-05-12) | September 7th, 2016 |
2017-04-22 Agree with previous assessment. Very fine, unhyped beer & brewery.
2016-10-29 Drank at cellar temp without cooling it at all, really sweet. Rich dried apricot sweetness, almost a port. No heat, very smooth.
2016-09-07 Very good classic barleywine. Has a bite at cooler temps so let it warm a bit. Great buy at 3 years old.
Drank 12 oz of Staghorn Octoberfest by New Glarus Brewing Company (2016-08-25) | September 6th, 2016 |
2016-09-06 It's been a long time since I enjoyed a lager this much. It's easy to get caught up in the more intense, higher abv stuff but there's still a place for any well-made beer.
Drank 12 oz of Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale by Central Waters Brewing Company (2016) | September 5th, 2016 |
2020-02-20 Unfortunately this one had turned pretty far, I didn't want any more after the first sip. Parents still thought it was good until I opened the 2015, which had fared much better.
Drank 750 ml of Wee Heavy by AleSmith Brewing Company (2014-07-01) | September 5th, 2016 |
2019-05-26 This held up incredibly well. Past its prime but still delicious. This is the best scotch ale.
2016-09-05 About as good as scotch ale gets without spending time in a bourbon barrel. Probably better than Scotty Karate.
Drank 12 oz of Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout by North Coast Brewing Co. (2015-12-21) | September 4th, 2016 |
2016-11-11 Not sure about this experiment of aging Rasputin. Doesn't seem to gain anything from the time, definitely loses something. Kind of just tastes like cold Postum right now. Shouldn't be surprising, considering the ingredients of each brew. Also reminds me of old Guinness Extra Stout. Two beers that shouldn't be aged, apparently. One bottle left, will see if anything changes.

Drank 12 oz of Brewer's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale by Central Waters Brewing Company (2015-08-06) | September 1st, 2016 |
2020-02-20 Held up remarkably well, much better than the 2016 I opened the same night. Rich malty depth and retains more barrel than bourbon. Still, it showed its age, not a beer that needs cellaring. Sad to see CW let this one go.
2017-07-18 I like it chilled a bit, now, but not 44 degrees or anything. As good as it gets for me.
2016-08-27 The best. | |
2016-05-19 This is just my favorite beer. So rich and sweet, but not alcohol sweet. Smooth and delicious.
2016-05-04 Bourbon had faded significantly after 9 months. It's still there but more in the background. It's smoother overall but I really liked the big bourbon presence.
Drank 12 oz of Glacial Trail IPA by Central Waters Brewing Company (2016-08-04) | August 29th, 2016 |
Drank 500 ml of Less is More by Une Année | August 28th, 2016 |
2016-08-28 Extremely carbonated, otherwise a refreshing straightforward saison.
