Drank 16 oz of JaBREWzo (2019) by Destination Unknown Beer Company | January 6th, 2021 |
2023-04-18 Held up well. Wish I could find more of these.
Drank Willettized Coffee Stout by Lagunitas Brewing Company (2020) | January 5th, 2021 |
2022-12-26 Held up well. Plenty of coffee and barrel, though seems like very little carbonation.
2021-03-16 Really roasty and whiskey is well pronounced. Dark chocolate flavors also present.
Drank 12 oz of §ucaba by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2019) | January 2nd, 2021 |
2021-01-02 Excellent barleywine.
Drank 25 oz of Three Philosophers by Brewery Ommegang (2011) | January 2nd, 2021 |
2021-04-03 Held up really well despite most carbonation being gone.
2021-01-02 Held up amazingly well.
2020-04-19 Sadly there’s not much left to this after 9 years. Just a hint of tartness from the cherries on the finish.
Drank 12 oz of Chocolate Cherry Stout - Limited Release (2020) by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2020-10-09) | January 2nd, 2021 |
2020-12-13 Lots of chocolate. Cherry is subtle. On the thin side, but good flavor.
Drank 16 oz of Bourbon County Brand Caramella Ale by Goose Island Beer Co. (2020-09-03) | January 1st, 2021 |
2021-06-12 Very sweet. Not my favorite member of the Bourbon County family, but still good. Has to be sipped to counteract the sweetness.
2021-01-01 Sweet with flavors of caramel and apples, with a hint of cinnamon. The booziness is well hidden but becomes more prominent in the finish. I prefer their classic barleywine, which sadly they haven’t made in 2 years now. This is like dessert.
Drank 16 oz of Bourbon County Brand Special #4 Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2020-09-11) | December 31st, 2020 |
2024-07-27 This has held up remarkably well. Still plenty of coffee and flavorful maple syrup flavors.
2024-03-03 Lots of coffee and molasses, along with dark chocolate. A bit thinner than the regular stouts, but flavors linger for awhile.
2023-02-04 Coffee is still prominent, with a hint of sweetness from the maple. Holding up well so far.
2022-09-30 Lots of coffee; more than I remember. Glad I have a bunch of these left.
2022-02-26 Did a side by side with 2019 Café de Olla and 2020 Special #4. In the end, they’re both fantastic, but the Café de Olla wins. Thankfully, the cassia bark aka cinnamon has calmed down in the Café de Olla.
2020-12-31 This is a mouthful of coffee and not a whole lot of other flavors. There’s a subtle hint of the sweetness from the maple. It would have been better if Goose Island stuck with the base stout instead of the thinner, less malty, less flavorful oatmeal.
Drank 16 oz of Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout (2017) by Goose Island Beer Co. (2017-07-25) | December 30th, 2020 |
2024-08-01 Still holding up very well. Ton of coffee still in there and flavors haven’t faded much, but a slight bit of age is detectable. Cheers to you Gram…you will be missed. We love you.
2020-12-30 This actually seems better now than when it was fresh. I’m not getting the bitterness that bothered me about this year, due to the espresso coffee used. Goose Island needs to return to this coffee style...keep it simple!
2017-11-26 Good, but the last 2 years were amazing. Getting too much bitterness. Wouldn’t have used espresso roast for this. Disappointed...
Drank 16 oz of Bourbon County Brand Barleywine (2017) by Goose Island Beer Co. (2017-10-06) | December 27th, 2020 |
2023-12-27 Really damn good. Holding up great.
2021-12-12 Bourbon County Vertical 2021
So good. I hope they make these again someday.
2020-12-27 Wow, this has aged nicely. Lots of sweet caramel and toffee, with a hint of roasted malt at the end. The 14.4% ABV isn’t obvious. Looking forward to opening another next year.
2017-11-28 More caramel and darker than usual. I think this will age well.
Drank 16 oz of Birthday Bourbon County Brand Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. | December 24th, 2020 |
2020-12-24 This is really great. Lots of very decadent, rich chocolate, but without the bitterness that the Anniversary had. Deep burnt caramel on the back of the tongue and lingers through the long finish. Silky smooth and very enjoyable.
Drank 16 oz of Anniversary Bourbon County Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. | December 20th, 2020 |
2020-12-20 Notably different flavors from the base. More heat than your typical Bourbon County. The finish is slightly reminiscent of the 2015 Rare. Tons of dark chocolate is front and center, but lingers.
Drank 16 oz of Bourbon County Brand Stout (2020) by Goose Island Beer Co. (2020-09-22) | December 16th, 2020 |
2024-08-10 With Phil in Colorado during steak night.

2023-07-01 Not my favorite year, but crazy depth of flavor and very boozy.
2022-12-04 Bourbon County Vertical 2022
2021-12-12 Bourbon County Vertical 2021
2021-03-19 Tons of dark chocolate, malt, and bourbon goodness. Decadent and rich.

Drank 12 oz of Chocolate Cherry Stout - Limited Release (2020) by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2020-10-09) | December 13th, 2020 |
2020-12-13 Lots of chocolate. Cherry is subtle. On the thin side, but good flavor.
Drank 12 oz of KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) by Founders Brewing (2020-10-14) | December 8th, 2020 |
2022-04-21 Lots of dark chocolate and roasty malt with a hint of sweetness from the maple and booziness from the barrel.
2020-10-31 Founders knocked it out of the park with this one. Loads of chocolate, very rich, no bitterness. Only a few sips in, but looking forward to seeing how it changes with some warmth.
Drank 12 oz of Bourbon County Brand Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2013) | December 5th, 2020 |

2021-12-12 Bourbon County Vertical 2021
A little sediment and very little carbonation.
Flavor still on point. | |
2020-12-05 Phenomenal and is still drinking wonderfully.
2016-12-01 Really awesome. First flavor was vanilla sweetness from bourbon barrels. Can't wait to try again next year. |
