This is a worthy competitor to Anti-Hero. Doesn't quite have the soft carb, but this will never disappoint me.

Now it's really really good. Wish I had waited a little longer to open the first couple of bottles. Then I'd plan to drink them this winter. I guess it could get better, but it's really nice now.

I can drink it with tacos. Certainly not the most optimal pairing but they're both still good even if they have completely separate flavor profiles. It's sweet. That's mostly what I'm getting this time. It's good, doesn't beat you over the head with hops.

Now it tastes good. Alcohol heat is gone, leaving behind raisin, date, fig, sweetness. Incredibly deceiving 15% now, I would guess 11%. However, as pleasant as it is I don't long for a beer that tastes like this. I don't avoid eating food or brushing my teeth afterwards in order to continue enjoying the aftertaste. It's as good as any naked barleywine I've ever had, but can't aspire to the same heights as one aged in spirit barrels.

Still plenty of alcohol heat. Not a dramatic amount of flavor for 15%. I guess I'll give it another year but I'm underwhelmed. Why do I keep trying stuff that isn't Central Waters?

OK, this is pretty good now. Expedition doesn't hit its stride until about a year, so it's a fair analogue.

Fantastic. Creme brulee in spades. Vanilla and burnt caramel in the nose. More bitterness in the swallow, which keeps it from being cloying. For 14.5% I can drink a lot of this, surprisingly dry. Killer. My favorite barrel treatment for this series.

Wow. This was fantastic. I was hesitant because it's wheat whiskey but so well balanced and integrated. I don't regret buying two. Very potent. Huge barrel character, and you can smell the whiskey but it drinks so smooth. No worries about taking an hour or two to finish, drinks just as well at room temperature.

Much smoother than my recollection of the other 2016 bottle. Bittersweet chocolate and coffee grounds sounds about right but I'm enjoying it more this time.

This one tasted like coffee grounds, and then unsweetened baker's chocolate as it warmed. Not my favorite. I remember getting a little sweetness to offset the bitterness in other bottles I have opened.

Last 2015 bottle. Sigh.

Makes me reconsider my boycott of Goose Island.

A nice imperial stout. Hazelnut is there but more subtle than I wanted, barrel quality is nicely balanced. Carb is not ideal but improves at warmer temps. Not exceptional but a bargain at the price. Good, not great.

Unreasonably smooth. Caramel. Creme brulee. Spirit driven. Expensive, but worth it.

Caramel. Smells THE BEST. Less intense than 2014 Rye, surprisingly balanced at 14%. Glad I have another.

A little past its prime at 3 years. A little coffee, could be smoother. Smells just like you want it to. Big bourbon, big thick stout, very satisfying.
