2018-07-06 Full flavored and well-balanced for 12%. Coffee and maple are just right. The coffee is a little more bitter than I prefer but not too bad. Reminiscent of a chocolate coffee ice cream. Smooths out and sweetens as it warms. Not as viscous as I was expecting. Has an oily residue. Smells like sweet coffee. | |

2020-04-26 The most quaffable scotch ale I have ever drunk. Finishes so clean, none of the dirty burnt caramel flavor that plagues some instances of the style. Reminds me of Traquair House Ale. Pleasant but not overbearing sweetness and light body. Can drink with just about anything, or pour as a patio beer. | |

2018-11-19 Always fun to try fresh. Reaffirms that it's better after 6 months. More coffee roast when cold, not much bourbon. Burnt chocolate as it warms. Will be interesting to see if the 2018 just has more roast than past vintages. | |
