Drank 500 ml of Firestone 18 - Anniversary Ale by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2014)January 2nd, 2015
2015-01-02
Tons of malt in the nose, but balanced on the palate, some mild stout characteristics give way to more of an Double Double Barrel kind of profile. Tasty, and not hot in the slightest.
Drank 22 oz of Blue Gene by Revolution Brewing LLC (2014)January 2nd, 2015
2015-01-02
Weird, but good! Almost has a sour thing going on from the blueberry, but very mild, and it comes through nicely on the palate.
Drank 12 oz of Bourbon County Brand Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2013-11-08)January 2nd, 2015
2024-12-21
Wow tasted great. Still some heat after a few sips, no oxidation notes, tons of chocolate and coffee. Can't believe how well this one has held up.
2015-01-02
Tasting good, lots of chocolate and some oak char, feel like this may be better fresh (at least the 2014), but still damn delicious.
2013-12-02
As good as remembered, especially with chocolate cake. Soooo drinkable for 15% ABV, with great coffee, malt, and bourbon notes, with a delightful bit of heat on the lips. So glad this beer has survived InBev.
Drank 12 oz of Dogpatch Sour by Almanac Beer Co. (2014-03)December 31st, 2014
2014-12-31
Lots of tart up front, some subdued berry character, not medicinal and quite tasty.
2014-03-15
Delicious, not too sour, not too sweet, perfect amount of fruit in the nose and on the palate. Glad they did a second run of this.
Drank 750 ml of Serpent's Stout by The Lost Abbey (2014)December 31st, 2014
2014-12-31
Nothing mind blowing, but still a very tasty, straightforward stout
2014-03-08
Really dark, tons of roast, a tiny bit of bitter chocolate. Great, drinkable stout, and hides the ABV perfectly.
Drank 750 ml of Grey Monday by The Bruery (2014-03-28)December 31st, 2014
2024-12-21
Was great. Hazelnut faded a tad (which I liked), balance of sweetness was perfect for a Bruery bottle, another crowd favorite.
2014-12-31
Mild hazelnut in the nose and on the palate, lots of Black Tuesday influence, some solid bourbon, and definitely some heat. Tasty, but think this may hit its prime in a year or so.
Drank 750 ml of Map of the Sun by The Rare Barrel (2014-10-08)December 31st, 2014
2024-12-21
Wasn't too tart and definitely still a solid amount of fruit there. Great bite and flavor, solid sipper.
2015-03-23
Delicious! Super clean, good bit of apricot, perfect tartness, an all around wonderful beer.
2014-12-31
Tasting good but not stellar, recall it being better on draft, I did have a pour towards the end of the bottle so might have been dregs interfering.
Drank 750 ml of Oude Tart With Sour Cherries by The Bruery (2014-06-27)December 29th, 2014
2014-12-29
Lots of oude bruin, lots of cherry, lots of pucker initially, though it mellows out nicely as it warms up. Tasty!
Drank 12 oz of Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2014-11-07)December 27th, 2014
2014-12-27
Tasting great; lots of coffee in the nose and up front, mixes well with the BCBS backend, and a lot more coffee came out as it warmed up. Delicious.
Drank 650 ml of Ol' Leghorn (Three Floyds Collaboration) by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. (2014-05-30)December 25th, 2014
2017-08-19
While it was nice to have a more hop forward beer in this sea of malt, I can see why its rating isn't that hot. Blonde and bland.
2014-12-25
Tasty! Has a surprisingly hoppy nose and a bit of hop bite, otherwise a solid barleywine, not too sweet and very drinkable.
Drank 750 ml of Apropos of Nothing by The Rare Barrel (2014-09-23)December 25th, 2014
2017-11-05
Lavender super present in this! Amazing nose as a result, and really nice, if slightly weird (in a good way) on the palate.
2015-03-15
Tasting delicious, lots of fruit, not too tart at all, super clean, love this beer.
2014-12-25
Fruit in the nose, lots of acidity and fruit on the palate, got a definite cranberry thing going on that's really tasty. A crowd pleaser.
Drank 12 oz of Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2013-11-15)December 24th, 2014
2015-06-26
Still a surprising amount of coffee, and tasting great, thick, not too hot, and that great BCBS stout character. Still digging it.
2015-01-23
Tasting great, though as expected a bit muted on the coffee compared to drinking it fresh.
2014-12-24
Much sweeter than remembered, though not in a bad way, coffee definitely subdued but still present in the nose and on the backend, has some of that BCBW marshmellow I remember too. Tasting great.
2014-02-24
Still great, lots of coffee on the nose and on the palate, and so drinkable for the ABV, hardly any heat. A great blend.
2013-12-13
Sooo much coffee presence, delicious and up front, much better than the 2012 bottle opened a while back. Superb and not grounds-like, just a great blend, should drink another soon.
Drank 750 ml of Speedway Stout - Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee by AleSmith Brewing Company (2014-02-25)December 23rd, 2014
2014-12-23
Great! Lots of coffee, great nose, and even when cold tasting awesome. Even better as it warms up. Delicious.
Drank 500 ml of Old Rasputin XV Anniversary by North Coast Brewing Co. (2013)December 22nd, 2014
2014-12-22
Not so great, some raisin and definite oxidation and a bit too much barrel. Meh.
Drank 12 oz of Bourbon County Brand Barleywine by Goose Island Beer Co. (2014-09-24)December 22nd, 2014
2021-09-03
Held up OK.
2015-11-07
"This barley wine is gnarly wine" says Evan. Big, thick, some booze heat but pleasantly so, and a reduced candy profile from what I last remember.
2014-12-22
Not as much magic as last year but still quite tasty, nice malt character without being too sweet.
