4.0 Bottle. Pours Coca-cola brown with a scant beige head. Smells just like the filter holder in my coffee maker. No, really, it smells that much like coffee. Flavor follows nose, this is cold brewed iced coffee, the beer has pretty much disappeared. There’s a little malt sweetness, alcohol and carbonation. The rest is coffee. Quite good, but more coffee than beer.
Drank 22 oz of Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout by Goose Island Beer Co. (2012)December 31st, 2013
2013-12-31
4.3 2012. Bottle, which broke upon opening. Filtered through a coffee filter to avoid ingecting glass shards. Pours black. Had a nice beige head in the filter, but that’s gone now. Aroma is spent coffee grounds, bourbon. Flavor is heavy on the bourbon, with dark malts, dark fruit, and a bit of coffee bitterness. This is pretty amazing.

Drank 12 oz of Conflux Series No. 1 (Collage) by Deschutes Brewery / Hair of the Dog Brewing CompanyDecember 23rd, 2013

4.4 Bottle from trade with GT2. Thanks GT! Something I hope is worthy of my 200th rating. Pours a murky mud brown with just a bit of white head that runs quickly to the edge of the glass. Aroma - wow, this is special! Whiskey, raisin, cinnamon, fig, vanilla oak. On the tongue, so many flavors - I’m getting raisin, oak, fig, then there’s a sour cherry element, like a Monk’s Cafe or a Rodenbach which quickly gives way to tart lemon. There’s something floral, caramel, dark fruit and a bit of dark chocolate bitterness on the finish. Worthy!
