Drank 355 ml of Porter by Founders Brewing | May 1st, 2015 |
2014-09-07 Strong roast, had it with Big Blue Bowl this time and it provided an outstanding backdrop. Cleansed the palate but didn't clash with the sweetness of the chocolate and whipped cream.
Drank 355 ml of Fourth Dementia by Kuhnhenn Brewing | April 26th, 2015 |
2015-04-26 Pours a hazy brown with no head from the bottle. Aroma is boozy with strong caramel and dried dark fruit. Prune, fig, molasses, and brown sugar. Some hard to name spice qualities and vanilla. Flavour is similar to the aroma with an amazing fruity and toffee quality. Port-like qualities, mouthfeel is a little syrupy, which is not bad, suits the beer perfectly. Rich and decadent, feels like it should be consumed after Christmas dinner. 10/10
Drank 355 ml of Dirty Bastard Scotch Style Ale by Founders Brewing | April 19th, 2015 |
2015-04-19 Pours dark amber with very little head from the bottle. Aroma is pruney, caramel, vanilla and booze. Flavour is also slightly pruney, boozy and vanilla. Hints of smoky peat. Slightly bitter finish on the back of the tongue. Delicious. 8/10
Drank 750 ml of Fire And Blood Red Ale by Brewery Ommegang | April 18th, 2015 |
2015-04-18 Pours a deep amber with a moderate whitish head from the bottle. Aromas of vanilla, caramel and grain. When warmed a bit, the very faintest aroma of bubblegum. Flavour is well balanced, sweet malty flavour with the very mild bitterness to balance. Mildly spicy, having difficulty discerning the ancho chilis.Really delicious and easy drinking. Super palatable though some of the flavours are difficult for me to discern. 9/10
Drank 22 oz of Chocolate Sombrero by Clown Shoes | April 16th, 2015 |
2015-04-16 Pours black with a rich brown head from the bottle. Light doesn't penetrate through the the liquid. Aroma is chocolatey and boozy and fruity and roasty. Flavour has a chocolate liqueur quality with undertones of vanilla and coffee bitterness. the cinnamon and chili flavour come out when the beer warms. Good but not incredible. 7/10
Drank 500 ml of Imperial Stout by Nøgne Ø (2011-08-26) | April 13th, 2015 |
2015-04-13 Pours thick and black with a dark brown foam from the bottle no light penetrates. Aromas of molasses and roast. Deep smoky roast flavour tempered with dark chocolate, dark dried fruit and molasses. The alcohol is not at all apparent in the flavour but warms in the stomach. Mouthfeel is thick and a bit syrupy. 8/10 Note: previously scored 3/5 on Untappd, I think it's gotten better with a little aging.
Drank 330 ml of Urthel Hop-It by De Leyerth Brouwerijen | April 12th, 2015 |
2015-04-12 Pours a little chunky from the bottle with a light head and a golden colour. Aroma is reminiscent of a sour beer, little lactic nose and boozy when it warms. Flavour is not at all sour but is very sweet malty. Mildly lemony, hops are bitter but don't linger too long at the end. Not bad but also nothing too outstanding. 7/10
Drank 22 oz of Black Butte Porter by Deschutes Brewery | April 10th, 2015 |
2015-04-10 Pours from bottle with light head that sticks around. Black with deep cola highlights when held up to the light. Roasty coffee with subtle caramel aroma. Flavour has a slight fruity tartness followed by a lovely roast with a mild coffee bitterness that dissolves into a clean finish. 8/10
Drank 330 ml of Black Betty by Beavertown Brewery | April 7th, 2015 |
2015-04-07 Pours dark with some cola highlights with a deep frothy head from the bottle. Aromas are grassy and mildly floral with an underlying caramel sweetness. Flavours are well balanced with initial sweetness followed up by a midrange of hop and then a slightly resinous bitterness at the end. Despite the resinous bitter end, the bitterness doesn't linger and finish is fairly clean. 8/10
Drank 22 oz of Stone 12.12.12 Vertical Epic Ale by Stone Brewing (2012-11-08) | March 29th, 2015 |
2015-03-29 Pours from bottle with no head and an deep black inky colour. Intensely spicy aromas of nutmeg, allspice, cloves and cinnamon. It gives it a banana bread-like aroma. Flavours are intensely spicy. Slight bitterness that tastes like it comes from spices. Strong allspice and clove flavours, like gingerbread. Lovely flavous but a little too intense for me at the moment as I'm drinking it late at night. 8/10
Drank 22 oz of Rogue Farms 7 Hop IPA by Rogue Ales | March 20th, 2015 |
2015-03-20 Beautiful clear amber-orangey pour with a head that sticks around in a great way. Aroma is so good. Hoppy and caramel/toffee malts, meadowy, grassy slightly citrusy hop aromas. Flavour is very very good. It has a wonderful solid malty caramel base and layered with grassy hop flavour, floral hop flavour, pithy citrus bitterness. Some tropical fruit notes. Bitterness on the back end lingers only briefly and isn't overly resinous. Mouthfeel is silky and substantial and the bubbles are relatively subdued but not at all flat. 9/10
Drank 22 oz of Mokah by Southern Tier Brewing Co | March 8th, 2015 |
2015-03-08 Consumed March 7, 2015 - Beautiful black pour, not much head out of bottle pour, but what is there is dark but not thick and creamy. Aroma is strongly chocolate and alcohol like a chocolate liqueur. Flavour is very sweet with a mostly chocolate flavour and a more subdued coffee flavour. Mild booziness is present and a subtle balancing coffee type bitterness. Delicious. 8/10.

2015-02-06 Low head, deep brown pour. Aromas are boozy and vinous, dried brown fruits like figs, dates, prunes. Flavour starts out very sweet and fruity and settles to a mildly bitter finish and a mild coffee flavour at the end. Right tasty.8/10 |
