Drank 500 ml of Black Force One Smoked Imperial Stout by Xbeeriment | July 13th, 2015 |
2015-07-13 Pours from the bottle pitch black and thick with almost no head. Smoky and sweet malty. 8.5
Drank 12 oz of B-Craft Black IPA by Arcadia Brewing | July 9th, 2015 |
Drank 650 ml of Deviator Doppelbock by Camerons Brewery Company | June 3rd, 2015 |
2015-06-03 Pours dark and ruby with a syrupy texture with very little head from a bottle. Aroma is dried dark fruit, fig, prune and a whiff of booze. Flavour is somewhat similar to the aroma, dark dried fruit, sweet malt, with a very mild bitterness on the back end. Finishes fairly clean regardless. It didn't blow me away but it's still very good. 7.5/10
Drank 375 ml of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout by Kiuchi Shuzou Goushi Kaisya | May 31st, 2015 |
2015-05-31 Pours dark brown with some light penetration into a goblet from a bottle. Aroma is strongly molasses, sweet roasty candi sugar. Flavour is similar, molasses, roast flavour is stronger that aroma. Roast bitterness lingers briefly in the finish. Mouthfeel is surprisingly light. Mid range. 5/10
Drank 500 ml of Sugar Bush Brown Ale by Block 3 Brewing Co. | May 30th, 2015 |
2015-05-30 Pours clear amber with minimal head from a bottle. Aroma of toasted marshmallow and light grain. Flavour is well balanced but improves once the beer has warmed slightly as the malts come out to play with the light balancing bitterness. The maple doesn't present itself as a sweetness but as a hint of maple-ness. Quite lovely 8/10.
Drank 375 ml of Black (黑) by Mikkeller | May 29th, 2015 |
2015-05-29 Pours black with a huge dense foam from a bottle. Aroma is of brown sugar, molasses, espresso and a high tart fruitiness. Flavour is intensely roasty with a boozy, warming quality. There is a fruity tartness at the front and a strong and lingering roast bitterness in the finish. So incredibly bitter and crazy boozy which nearly masks the big malts. I'm really torn about this beer, just too bitter for me. 6/10
Drank 500 ml of Uncle Bock by Innocente Brewing Company (2015-04-02) | May 25th, 2015 |
2015-05-25 Pours a lovely amber with a moderate head. Aroma is a little grainy with a hint of maple. Flavour is well balanced, enough bitterness to balance. Good stuff. 7.5/10
Drank 16 oz of French Press Vanilla Stout by Double Trouble Brewing Co | May 23rd, 2015 |
2015-05-23 Pours black with very little head into a glass from a can. Aroma is intensely vanilla, warm. Smells like creme brulee, vanilla and custard. Flavour is like an iced coffee with vanilla extract and just a touch of sweetness. The finish is slightly bitter from the burnt roastiness. 8/10
Drank 500 ml of Mojo by Forked River Brewing Company (2015-05) | May 22nd, 2015 |
2015-05-22 Pours hazy yellow from the bottle. Freshly bottled yesterday or today. Flavour is very light and extremely drinkable. Rhubarb really shines once the beer loses its initial chill. Very well balanced with a clean finish. 8/10
Drank 500 ml of Inn O' Slainte by Innocente Brewing Company (2015-04) | May 18th, 2015 |
2015-05-18 Pours ruby hued with little to no head. Aroma is pretty grainy with a slightly roasted perfumey(?) aroma. When slightly warmer, aroma is of lightly burnt sugar. Flavour is mild and somewhat grainy with a balancing bitterness. When warmed, a light metallic taste comes out. Not superb but not bad either. 6/10
Drank 25 oz of Sofie by Goose Island Beer Co. | May 16th, 2015 |
2015-05-16 Bottle fountained when opened, lively yeast! Poured with enormous fluffy head and an orangey yellow hazy colour. Aromas of honey, banana and white wine. Flavours are very light and refreshing. Similar to the aroma but with a spice kick. Carbonation is very high creating incredible lift. Very easy drinking if not easy to open! 9/10
Drank Other of Ashnan by Beau's All Natural Brewing Co. (2014-02-13) | May 15th, 2015 |
2015-05-15 Pours honey colour with little to no head into a goblet. Aroma is actually quite honeylike with a definite white wine character. Very chardonnay in aroma. Flavour is surprisingly bitter but I didn't try it until after it had warmed a bit. Honey and summer stone fruit flavours. Peach, reisling, chardonnay? Pretty delicious, the bitterness is a good balance. 7/10
Drank 12 oz of The Soft Parade by Short's Brewing Company | May 11th, 2015 |
2015-05-11 Pours golden with a slightly pink hue. Has some floaties. Little to no head from the bottle. Aroma is very berry with some underlying maltiness. Flavour is light and refreshing with a strong berry flavour and a little bit of bitterness on the back end. Finishes fairly clean. Decent. 7/10
Drank 341 ml of Aphrodisiaque by Brasserie Dieu du Ciel (2014-02) | May 8th, 2015 |
2015-05-08 Pours black with little head from the bottle. Aroma is strongly of coffee and dark chocolate and booze. Espresso and dark chocolate and liquor and slightly fruitiness. Spectacularly delicious. 10/10.
Drank 500 ml of Green Devil IPA by Oakham Ales | May 3rd, 2015 |
2015-05-03 Pours clear with a little bit of head that doesn't stick around. Very minor lacing remains, none on the glass. Aroma is richly hoppy, earthy, grassy, floral. Like a malty mountain meadow. Flavour is slightly sweet and hoppy with a mild bitterness on the back end. The hop flavour is not incredibly bitter, some tropical fruit. Very nice, quite lovely. 9/10 |
