Drank 375 ml of Temptation by Russian River Brewing Company (2023-03-28) | September 15th, 2024 |
2024-09-15 Pours a translucent golden. Minimal head, but strong effervescence and nice lacing. Smells a little bretty. Taste is tart white wine and some delicate spice up front with pronounced oak and a tinge of leather on the back end.
I drank this once when I was younger and recalled a much stronger Chardonnay impression. This bottle erred further back into beeriness, giving a more developed wild ale flavor that I'd be inclined to return to more often. Probably me that's changed, not the beer!
Drank 275 ml of Harvest Ale by JW Lees and Co. (Brewers) Ltd. (1998-12-01) | September 7th, 2024 |
2024-09-07 Pours a rich, but still translucent brown. Silky mouthfeel with just a hint of carbonation left. This bottle didn't have the pronounced brown sugar finish of the last one, it's sweetness being mostly of the fruit variety. The malt shines through, reminiscent of raisin and fig and, what's this, a bit of toffee? Lovely barleywine for those inclined towards the sweeter stuff. Almost a dessert wine sort of sip.
2024-08-04 Nicely mellowed, smooth mouthfeel with a lovely brown sugar aftertaste. This held up really well for being 25 years old.
Drank 750 ml of Hommage Season 18|19 blend No. 71 by 3 Fonteinen (2019-05-09) | September 2nd, 2024 |
2024-09-02 Shared at labor day bbq. Rave reviews even from the non-regular lambic drinkers.
Drank 375 ml of Gueuze Black Label 1882 by Brouwerij Girardin (2013) | August 30th, 2024 |
2024-08-30 Nose is classic green apple, raisin, and funk. Pours a deep, cloudy orange, like a late summer sunset. Taste has a little more bitterness than other gueuzes but just a touch of pucker. Nice and dry, but doesn't have the minerality I find addictive in Cantillon and 3F's gueuzes. Cork dissolved a little bit, but not much sediment and no huge impact on the beer.
Drank 750 ml of Knitting Circle Season 5 Batch C by Fair Isle Brewing (2023) | August 25th, 2024 |
2024-08-25 Might have screwed with the aging a bit by storing without climate control for a few months before I bought the wine fridge. Still a really pleasant drink- low acidity and a nice dry finish. I get a bit of pear and kiwi on the palette with the promised custard on the end. Excellent summer sipper.
Drank 750 ml of Hoppy 6 Grain Saison by Jester King Craft Brewery (2022-09) | August 23rd, 2024 |
Drank 375 ml of Oude Geuze by 3 Fonteinen (2016-03-04) | August 10th, 2024 |
2024-08-10 Cellared at Bottleworks. Came along really well.

Drank 750 ml of Vesper by Holy Mountain (2024) | July 6th, 2024 |
2024-07-06 Purchased sometime in April or May of 2024. Slightly tarter and a little more geuzey than a fresh one. Still great for hot days! |
