Rich caramel and molasses flavors, heavy oak characteristics, full body, and an overall flavor that doesn't quit!

Coffee has faded a little and the body seems slightly thinner. Still delicious.

Thick and dense with the rich and well balanced flavors of a classic imperial stout.
Drank 12 oz of Dragon's Milk Reserve Triple Mashed by New Holland Brewing Company (2015-10-07)January 31st, 2016

One of the best stouts i've ever had. Amazingly huge flavors of oak and bourbon that make the original seem light in comparison. Very complex with a delicious raisin/molasses sweetness that lasts forever. If held for a few seconds in the mouth, the 14% ABV becomes more apparent, a decent whiskey burn across the back of the tongue and throat, though pleasantly so. Otherwise, it is so smooth you would not guess it was 14%. At about 65 degrees the bourbon became more pronounced and though it seemed less balanced at this temperature, it could be argued that it was even better. This beer may age very well, or it may loose the fresh bourbon-blast goodness that makes it so incredible. As great as it is now, it's hard to imagine it getting much better. Overall: 99/100. MAYBE 100/100.
Drank 12 oz of Dragon's Milk Reserve with Raspberries by New Holland Brewing Company (2015-10-06)January 27th, 2016

Underwhelming compared to the original. Good body, but when cold, the raspberries cover up most of the bourbon that made the original so great. Refreshing and a decent way to mix up the beer, it ultimately is not something i would buy again. The bourbon and oak do come through somewhat on the finish. At room temperature this beer was much better. The raspberry was less pronounced and the entire beer seemed much more balanced. The bourbon burn and a little bit of classic stout flavors showed through more at this temperature as well.
Drank 12 oz of The Beast Grand Cru by Avery Brewing Company (2015-07)January 17th, 2016

Not very balanced. Flavors surprisingly resemble a Belgian strong dark ale on steroids as opposed to it's designated style of Belgian strong pale ale. Lots of sediment throughout the bottle. The body is medium-full. Tasty, but not worth the price when it's fresh, in my opinion. Should definitely stock up and age.
Drank 12 oz of The Beast Grand Cru by Avery Brewing Company (2009)January 17th, 2016

Not particularly well balanced. Tastes more like a Belgian strong dark ale on steroids than a Belgian strong pale ale. Lots of sediment throughout the bottle/pour. Moderate carbonation, medium-heavy body.

Much smoother than the fresh parallel. Almost resembles a fine cognac in flavor and texture. Silky smooth yet very thick and heavy in terms of body, huge flavors of molasses and a touch of oak, along with perhaps a little pecan. Practically no carbonation remains. Surprisingly very little sediment, and it has settled well. Impeccable at this point!
