Drank 12 oz of Saturn (The Bringer Of Old Age) by Bell's Brewery, Inc. | May 10th, 2015 |
2015-05-10 Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine - Sweet upfront with strong bourbon carmel and vanilla notes. Sweet on the palate, surprisingly light to medium body. Very malty and sweet. Similar to a backwoods bastard but less boozy. Expected more from this beer, maybe needs time to age? Overall B-
Drank 750 ml of 18th Anniversary by Sweetwater Brewing - Atlanta | May 3rd, 2015 |
2015-05-03 light bodied and crisp belgian triple. not too sweet or malty, balanced but light on taste. reminds me more of a belgian single. however with abv at 10%, it's definitely no single. like i said, everything is well balanced, just too muted. overall C
Drank 12 oz of Not Your Father's Root Beer by Small Town Brewery | May 3rd, 2015 |
2015-05-03 Delicious alcoholic root beer, no alcohol taste. If you gave me the beer without telling me it was a beer, I would assume I am drinking a delicious root beer. Can feel the alcohol after the beer, but not taste it. Rich, medium body root beer. Gets flat quick. Make root beer floats with it! Overall A-
Drank 16 oz of Blazing World by Modern Times | May 2nd, 2015 |
2015-05-02 Hoppy amber ale - no doubt hoppy. lots of sweet and fruity california hops, medium to full bodied with minimal bitterness and a quick finish. Not quite a session amber ipa, but maybe a junior version. Overall B+
Drank 16 oz of Heady Topper by The Alchemist | April 30th, 2015 |
2015-04-30 Finally cracked up this behemoth, albeit not a fresh can which was also shipping across the US. Although given ample time to rest from "can-shock" it still tasted muted, with no fresh citrus taste but loads of bitterness from the hops. Towards the end of the can it seemed to open up, which a much richer mouthfeel, foamy full body and a great cascade of many hoppy flavors throughout the mouth. It was actually incredible, but at 8% alc and my state of mind at the time, it well could have been more of a placebo affect. Either way, I'd love to try this again, but enjoyed the experience and can check this off my bucket list. Overall first impression not great, so I won't give a score.
Drank 12 oz of Grapefruit Sculpin by Ballast Point Brewing Company | April 30th, 2015 |
2015-04-30 Taste better fresh, but still good a month later. RIch IPA taste up front, sweet hoppiness and full mouthfeel. Follows through with a very pure and natural flavor of grapefruit juice. Excellent balance and great combo. Overall A
Drank 12 oz of KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) by Founders Brewing (2015) | April 27th, 2015 |
2015-04-27 Once again disappointed with a Breakfast stout. Medium body, crisp not round with strongly pronounced bourbon and coffee notes. Not much chocolate noticed. Bitter taste, not much sweetness to balance the astringent notes. However the alcohol is nicely balanced - at 11.5% - you don't taste the alcohol but you certainly feel it. For me it did not live up to the hype, would much rather a Goose Island Bourbon County Stout vs the KBS. Overall grade B-
Drank 12 oz of Kirsch Gose by Victory Brewing | April 26th, 2015 |
2015-04-26 light body, crisp, cherry sour notes very present. slightly metallic/wheaty cherry taste as well on the finish. Very solid cherry sour beer, serve cool for better crispness. Overall B
Drank 16 oz of Booming Rollers by Modern Times | April 25th, 2015 |
2015-04-25 Light to medium body, minimal sweetness, strong bitter hops, good citrus notes. Semi creamy, decent carbonation - needed more sweetness to balance hops imho. Good example of west coast hops. B
Drank 16 oz of La Folie by New Belgium Brewing | April 25th, 2015 |
2015-04-25 Similar to Flanders red ale. Sour notes, light to medium body, medium carbonation. Enjoyable. B+
Drank 12 oz of Terrapin Moo-HooChiato by Terrapin Beer Company | April 11th, 2015 |
